Welcome to Carberry Marmalade! I'm looking forward to a fun year of jazzing with you. This course focuses much more on creativity, musical independence, and improvisation. Don't worry - we will get better at those things together!
Our focus in jazz band leans more towards independent playing and creativity than you may be used to from concert band. We will all learn to improvise and create our own solos. Keep an eye on Google Classroom for specific resources as well as any digital assignments and playing tests.
Please keep these dates free as it is important that we have our entire ensemble for performances.
Some other performance opportunities may come up, and we will discuss them as they do. In past years, we have performed at the pancake breakfast, Band Booster fundraisers, and Carberry's Farmer's Market.

Playing Test Reminders:
-Playing tests should be uploaded to the Google Classroom page.
-Make sure it's a video of you playing not just audio.
-I should be able to see your upper body/head so I can check fingerings.
Pro Tips:
-Start recording several days before the due date so you have lots of time to practice and get better!
-Find a quiet place in your house to record where you aren't distracted. (See Mrs. Burke if you need to use the band room to record in.)
-If you're having technical troubles, take a screen shot as evidence that your assignment wasn't late.
